Somewhere along the way, the Penguins' power play got good. It's clicking at 20.9 percent, fifth-best in the league. Roughly a year ago, it was an anchor for this team. Now, it's a true weapon.
We wonder if Chris Kunitz is gaining a reputation with officials similiar to the one Red Wings forward/net-front presence Tomas Holmstrom has. Holmstrom has been the victim of phantom goaltending interfernece calls for years just based on reputation. Rightly or wrongly, he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt on several calls. It's almost as if Kunitz is starting to head down that road too. He's had several - we've seen estimates of seven - goals waved off this season due to questionable calls in the blue paint.
